Pro-Palestinian demonstrators carried signs accusing Israel of abuses against Palestinians, while pro-Israel supporters gathered nearby waving Israeli flags.
The protest came less than a week after another contentious demonstration outside the Park East Synagogue in Manhattan heightened concerns among Jewish organizations and city officials about security near houses of worship.
New York City leaders have recently discussed expanding protective measures around synagogues and other religious institutions during large protests.
