The IDF announced that a Hamas terrorist who took part in the October 7 attack on the Nachal Oz military base has been killed in an airstrike in Gaza.

The strike last Wednesday targeted Hamza Sharbasi, a commander in Hamas’s Shejaiya Battalion. The military said Sharbasi had participated in the assault on Nachal Oz, where dozens of soldiers were killed and abducted, and had more recently been operating near the yellow line to advance terror plots against IDF troops in the area.

Also killed in the strike, though not the intended target, was Azzam al-Hayya, the 23-year-old son of Hamas chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya. The IDF identified the younger al-Hayya as a member of Hamas’s elite Nukhba Force who “recently held a central role in the organization.”

The Nukhba Force was the Hamas unit that led the October 7 massacre, carrying out the most direct assault on Israeli communities and military positions.
