King Charles traveled to Golders Green in northwest London on Wednesday in a highly significant show of solidarity with the Jewish community following last month’s antisemitic stabbing attack that shocked the neighborhood.

During the visit, the King met with victims of the April 29 attack, including 34-year-old Shloime Rand and 76-year-old Moshe Ben Baila, also known as Norman Shine, at a Jewish Care charity center.

Mr. Shine, who was stabbed in the neck outside a bus stop during the attack, later described the encounter with the monarch as deeply moving.

“He was very concerned,” Shine said afterward.

“The most inspiring thing was that he didn’t let go of my hand, I mean it was amazing, he is the King but I felt a genuine warmth and concern.”

Mr. Shine added that the royal visit carried enormous significance for the wider Jewish community amid rising antisemitism across the United Kingdom.

“We feel we have a genuine friend in the King,” he said.

King Charles also met with Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis, who told the monarch that the visit was “appreciated enormously” by the community.

The King additionally spent time speaking with members of Shomrim, the Jewish community patrol organization that responded to the stabbing attack, acknowledging their efforts in helping protect the community during a period of heightened tension and fear. CEO of Shomrim, Gavriel Ost recited the Bracha upon greeting the king.

The king told Shomrim”You are amazing. You are all volunteers….”

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley also joined portions of the visit.

Large crowds lined Golders Green Road as the King greeted well-wishers and local residents. At one point, Charles remarked to a resident: “It’s a dangerous world isn’t it?”

The monarch was warmly received, with members of the crowd chanting “Long live the King” as he walked through the neighborhood.

During the visit, King Charles was presented with a traditional challah loaf outside Grodz Bakery and also stopped to speak with children from a local primary school.

The visit comes amid growing concern over antisemitic incidents across Britain following months of heightened tensions worldwide.
