JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Undercover officers from Israel’s Border Police arrested a Palestinian suspect in east Jerusalem on Thursday after intelligence officials said he was planning a terrorist attack during Jerusalem Day celebrations.

Israeli authorities said the operation was launched following what they described as precise intelligence provided by the Shin Bet internal security agency regarding the suspect’s alleged intentions.

According to police, undercover officers were sent to the Abu Tor neighborhood, where they located the suspect at a car wash facility and arrested him during a covert raid.

Officials said the suspect was taken into custody without injuries or exchanges of fire and was transferred to the Shin Bet for further questioning.

Israeli police said cooperation between undercover Border Police units and the Shin Bet remains critical in preventing attacks and maintaining security during sensitive public events.
