IDF Deploys Massive Mesh Netting to Shield Against Hezbollah FPV Drones

May 14, 2026·1 min read

JERUSALEM (VINnews) – The Israel Defense Forces have received 158,000 square meters of mesh netting to protect against Hezbollah’s first-person view drones, with plans to procure another 188,000 square meters, the military said Thursday.

The netting already supplied, plus the additional amount being acquired, totals the equivalent of some 20 soccer fields, according to the IDF. The protective material is being deployed on military vehicles and at forward positions to counter the threat of explosive-laden FPV drones used by the Iran-backed terrorist group.

Photos released by the IDF show soldiers installing the netting over vehicles and structures. The drones visible in the images were part of tests conducted by the army.

The effort comes amid ongoing clashes along the Lebanon border, where Hezbollah has frequently launched drones and missiles at Israeli targets. The mesh netting is designed to intercept or detonate incoming drones before they can strike personnel or equipment.

No further details were immediately available on the cost of the netting or specific deployment timelines.
