Report: NYC First Lady’s Spotify Playlists Include Anti-Israel Songs

May 14, 2026·1 min read

NEW YORK (VINnews) — Spotify playlists reportedly linked to New York City First Lady Rama Duwaji included songs with explicit anti-Israel lyrics and titles referencing pro-Palestinian activism, according to a report published by the New York Post.

The report said one playlist carried a title referencing Palestine and included songs with lyrics hostile toward Israel. Another playlist was reportedly connected to a 2024 pro-Palestinian protest in Washington, D.C.

The Spotify account referenced in the report was later made private after media inquiries, according to the publication.

Duwaji, an artist and the wife of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has previously faced scrutiny over past social media activity related to Israel and the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023, attack.

Earlier this year, she apologized for causing hurt through past online posts but did not specifically address criticism related to anti-Israel content.

Mayor Mamdani has defended his wife, saying she is a private individual who should not be subjected to intense public scrutiny over past online activity.

The controversy comes amid ongoing political tensions in New York and nationally surrounding the Israel-Hamas war and public expressions of support for either side of the conflict.
