JERUSALEM (VINnews) – Corporal Negev Dagan, 20, of Dikla, a soldier in Battalion 12 of the Golani Brigade, was killed Thursday in southern Lebanon when a mortar shell struck his position, the Israel Defense Forces announced Friday.

The IDF said Dagan’s family has been notified.

“Approved for publication — Corporal Negev Dagan, 20, from Dikla, a soldier in Battalion 12 of the Golani Brigade, was killed yesterday in southern Lebanon by a mortar shell,” the military statement read. “May his memory be blessed.”

Dagan is the latest Israeli soldier to fall in ongoing operations against Hezbollah along the Lebanon border. No further details about the circumstances of the incident were immediately released.

Dikla is an Israeli community in the Golan Heights.
