King Charles Visits Golders Green in Show of Support for Jewish Community

May 15, 2026·2 min read

LONDON (VINnews) – King Charles III visited Golders Green on Thursday to express solidarity with the area’s Jewish community following a stabbing attack last month that injured two Jewish men.

The monarch met with the victims of the April 29 incident — Shloime Rand, 34, and 76-year-old Moshe Shine, also known as Norman Shine or Moshe Ben Baila — at a Jewish Care charity center in the north London neighborhood, which is home to a large Jewish population.

He also spoke with members of the community, leaders including Chief Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis, and volunteers from the Jewish security group Shomrim, who responded to the attack in Highfield Avenue.

The unannounced visit came amid heightened concerns over rising antisemitism in Britain. Crowds lined the streets, cheering and calling out “Long live the King” as Charles greeted residents.

Buckingham Palace described the visit as a chance for the King to reaffirm his steadfast support for the Jewish community. During his time at the center, Charles expressed concern about antisemitic incidents and offered words of comfort to those affected.

The April 29 stabbings have been classified by police as a terror incident. Both victims were treated at the scene for stab wounds.

Golders Green and surrounding areas in the London Borough of Barnet have seen a spate of antisemitic attacks in recent weeks.
