FAKE NEWS: White House Says Iranian “Draft MOU” Is Fake, Calls State Media Claims “Fabrication”

May 27, 2026·1 min read

The White House on Tuesday forcefully rejected a report published by Iranian state-controlled media claiming to reveal details of a draft Memorandum of Understanding allegedly being negotiated between the United States and Iran.

In a statement posted by the official White House “Rapid Response 47” account on X, the administration declared: “This report from Iranian controlled media is not true and the MOU they ‘released’ is a complete fabrication. Nobody should believe what Iranian state media is putting out. FACTS MATTER.”

Iranian state television had earlier claimed that the supposed draft agreement included major concessions by Washington, including a withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iran’s vicinity and the lifting of the American naval blockade around Iranian ports.

According to the Iranian report, Tehran would in return restore commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within one month, while still maintaining control over vessel management and maritime operations in the strategic waterway.

The reported draft also allegedly envisioned a 60-day negotiation window toward a broader agreement between the two sides.
