JERUSALEM (VINnews) – An Israel Defense Forces soldier was killed Saturday night in a Hezbollah drone strike in southern Lebanon, the military said.

Staff Sgt. Michael Tyukin, 21, of the Givati Brigade’s Reconnaissance Unit from Ashkelon, was killed in the attack, which occurred around 10:30 p.m.

A first-person view drone operated by Hezbollah struck a position where Givati soldiers were operating, the IDF said. The blast killed Tyukin and lightly wounded four other soldiers, who were evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

The incident comes amid ongoing cross-border fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
