🚨 Peleg Demonstrator Seriously Injured After Being Struck By Motorcycle At Ganot Junction
A participant in the Peleg Yerushalmi’s nationwide anti-draft demonstrations was seriously injured Monday evening after being struck by a motorcycle during a protest on Highway 4 near the Ganot Interchange.
The incident occurred as thousands of demonstrators took part in coordinated protests across Israel against the arrest of yeshiva bochurim and avreichim accused of draft evasion.
According to protesters at the scene, the motorcycle rider attempted to bypass the roadblock before colliding with the demonstrator. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
MDA paramedics and emergency personnel rushed to the scene and found the victim, approximately 25 years old, lying on the roadside suffering from severe injuries.
The victim was transported to Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer in serious condition, conscious, and suffering from significant head and limb injuries.
United Hatzalah also responded to the scene.
The accident occurred amid widespread Peleg Yerushalmi demonstrations that disrupted traffic throughout the country.
Major roads, including Highway 4 near Ganot, the entrance to Jerusalem, and Begin Boulevard in Jerusalem, were blocked by protesters. Additional demonstrations took place in Tzfas, Pisgat Ze’ev, and southern Israel.
Earlier in the evening, police used stun grenades to disperse demonstrators outside the home of Israel Police Traffic Division Commander Chaim Shmueli in Pisgat Ze’ev, where tensions escalated between protesters and law enforcement.
The protests were organized in response to the continued detention of yeshiva students and avreichim arrested for draft-related issues, with organizers vowing to continue demonstrations until those being held are released.
