Bennett Declares War On Chareidi Education: “I’ll Dismantle The State Within A State”
Naftali Bennett, the chairman of the Together party, declared war on Chareidi education on Wednesday, threatening that if he becomes prime minister, he’ll act to shut down all Chareidi educational networks, such as Chinuch HaAtzmai and Bnei Yosef.
Bennet unveiled a plan for an overhaul of Israel’s educational system, pledging to establish a national educational system and immediately end funding for all party-affiliated and independent educational institutions.
Speaking at the Eli Hurvitz Conference on Economy and Society, Bennett slammed the Chareidi educational system, saying: “An independent and anti-Zionist Chareidi state has arisen under our noses inside Israel. And we’re funding it from our own pockets. In the next government, we’re going to correct the historic mistake of creating separate educational systems, which created separate states.”
“We’ll dismantle the state within a state and create one Jewish, democratic, prosperous, and strong state here. I’m telling you — it’s possible. And it will happen—soon.”
According to his plan, all state-funded schools will be required to devote at least 60 percent of instruction time to core studies —Hebrew, English, mathematics, Zionism, civics, and Bible studies.
“If it’s not state‑run, it won’t be on my dime,” Bennett vowed.
