Senior police officials conveyed a message to Chareidi protest organizers that it is “taking its foot off the gas” regarding the arrest of bnei yeshivos in exchange for the protesters lowering the flames, Yisrael HaYom reported on Thursday.
The report follows the stormy protests organized by Peleg Yerushalmi across the country on Monday and last night’s riot outside the home of High Court justice Noam Sohlberg in protest of his ruling ordering the arrests of bnei yeshivos.
Israel Police said in response to the report that its “directives and enforcement policy remain unchanged. Any other report is solely the opinion of the publisher.”
The 62 suspects, residents of Beit Shemesh, who were arrested after the protest at Sohlberg’s home will be brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for a hearing on the police request to extend their detention.
