MORE PROTESTS: Peleg Yerushalmi Vows Escalation After 17 Draft Evaders Transferred To Military Police

Jun 11, 2026·2 min read

Following protests on Wednesday over plans to transfer the suspects arrested at the protest outside the home of High Justice Noam Sohlberg in Alon Shvut, Peleg Yerushalmi announced Wednesday evening that the transfer had been completed.

“In the past hour, the police completed the transfer of 17 talmidei yeshivos classified as draft evaders to military prison,” the group said in a statement.

“By doing so, Israel Police has crossed yet another red line and has effectively declared a serious escalation in the obsessive campaign being waged by state authorities against Lomdei Torah.”

“Tomorrow we will all take part in a determined and uncompromising struggle for the honor of Torah and its students, with a clear outcry that will be heard throughout the country.”

The protest is expected to disrupt major roads in the Tel Aviv area on a day when large crowds are expected in central Israel due to three separate concerts by popular Israeli singers: Omer Adam at Ramat Gan Stadium, Eyal Golan at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, and Ben Tzur at HaMoshava Stadium in Petach Tikva. Heavy congestion is expected on major roads and at railway stations beginning in the afternoon.

The main traffic bottlenecks are expected along Highway 4, the Geha Interchange, the Ayalon Highway, Derech Namir, Derech HaShalom, Jabotinsky Road, and access routes to Ramat Gan, Bnei Brak, Petah Tikva, and southern Tel Aviv.

Israel Railways announced a significant increase in service, including special trains to destinations throughout the country, extensions of regular train routes, and increased staffing at the Bnei Brak and Petach Tikva–Kiryat Aryeh stations.
