NEW YORK (VINnews) — Police say more than 10,000 NYPD officers will be deployed Thursday as more than 1 million fans are expected to gather in Lower Manhattan for the New York Knicks’ championship parade.
The celebration is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. near Battery Park and travel through the Canyon of Heroes before ending at City Hall.
Officials said extensive security measures will be in place along the parade route, including counterterrorism teams, explosive-detection K-9 units, transit officers, highway patrol personnel and other specialized resources.
City leaders are expected to honor Finals MVP Jalen Brunson and members of the Knicks organization during a ceremony at City Hall following the parade.
Authorities are urging spectators to arrive early and expect significant street closures and crowd-control measures throughout the area.
