VP Vance: Netanyahu’s Frustration Reports Not Reflective of Our Talks, Urges Cabinet to Avoid Attacking Trump
WASHINGTON D.C (VINnews) – Vice President JD Vance pushed back against reports of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s anger over a recent deal, saying such accounts do not match his direct conversations with the Israeli leader.
“I saw the Axios report that says Netanyahu is fuming. That’s not reflective of the conversations that I’ve had with him. Maybe he is saying something to somebody else that he is not saying to me,” Vance said.
Vance expressed concern over criticism from within Netanyahu’s cabinet, including personal attacks on President Donald Trump.
“It does bother me that you’ve seen people within Bibi’s cabinet who have come out and attacked the deal, and personally attacked the President,” Vance said.
Vance stressed Trump’s unique role as Israel’s key supporter on the world stage.
“President Donald J. Trump is the only head of state in the entire world who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time, and he happens to be the head of state of the world superpower,” Vance said. “If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have anywhere left in the entire world.”
The remarks come amid reported strains in U.S.-Israel relations tied to ceasefire efforts in Gaza and broader regional deals, including aspects involving Iran. Axios reports have highlighted frustrations among Trump administration officials with Netanyahu’s approach, though Trump himself has maintained a more supportive stance toward the Israeli leader.
Vance’s comments highlight the administration’s view that Israel should prioritize its alliance with the U.S. amid ongoing security challenges from groups like Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran-backed threats. Israeli officials have at times voiced skepticism over certain elements of U.S.-brokered frameworks, citing national security needs.
The White House has continued to emphasize close coordination with Israel while pursuing American interests in the Middle East. Netanyahu’s government has faced internal divisions, with some ministers taking harder lines against concessions in ongoing negotiations.
