JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Israeli military said Saturday that three soldiers were killed in separate combat incidents in southern Lebanon during operations against Hezbollah.
The soldiers were identified as Staff Sgt. Yoav Klein, 21, of Herzliya; Staff Sgt. Liav Kababia, 20, of Hod Hasharon; and Sgt. First Class Nir Ben Ari, 21, of Kerem Maharal.
Klein and Kababia, both serving in the 401st Brigade’s 52nd Battalion, were killed when their tank came under attack during fighting near Nabatieh, according to preliminary military findings. Israeli media reported the assault involved anti-tank fire and an explosive drone.
Ben Ari, a member of the elite Maglan unit, was killed in a separate clash in southern Lebanon. Two soldiers were seriously wounded and an officer suffered moderate injuries in the same incident, the military said.
The deaths bring renewed attention to the ongoing fighting along Israel’s northern border, where Israeli forces continue operations against Hezbollah positions in Lebanon. The wounded soldiers were evacuated for treatment, and their families were notified.
