Shin Bet Reveals: Dozens of Terror Attacks Directed by Hamas Terrorists In Turkey Foiled Over Past Year
The Shin Bet and the IDF on Sunday revealed that dozens of terror attacks directed by Hamas terrorists operating from Turkey were foiled over the past year.
The joint statement says, “Over the years—and with increased intensity during the past year—members of Hamas’ West Bank headquarters have directed and advanced extensive military activity into Yehuda and Shomron and Israel from Turkish soil, including recruiting terrorists to carry out attacks, transferring weapons and funds into the area, and advancing military operations.”
The statement added that Hamas terrorists continue to carry out their activities freely from Turkey, using infrastructure in Turkey to transfer instructions and funds to terrorists in Yehuda and Shomron.
The Shin Bet and IDF identified the leading members of the West Bank headquarters, including Zaher Jabarin, a resident of Istanbul who serves as the head of the headquarters, and Ayman Abu Khalil, who serves as head of its military wing.
Other Turkish-based Hamas terrorists include:
• Ayman Sharawna recruits operatives from Turkey and promotes terrorist activity in the region.
• Muhammad Mallah, originally from the Tulkarem area, divides his time between Turkey and Qatar and assisted in transferring funds for terrorist activities.
• Majed Jaaba, who helped smuggle the weapon used in the November 2023 terror attack at the Tunnels Checkpoint near Jerusalem.
• Walid Abu Nassar finances a Hamas network in Beit Lechem.
• Salam Yaish recruits terrorists to carry out attacks.
