Netanyahu, Katz and IDF Chief Vow Uncompromising Security Operations in Southern Lebanon

Jun 23, 2026·1 min read

JERUSALEM (VINnews)-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir on Monday reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to maintaining a security zone in southern Lebanon and aggressively countering threats from Hezbollah and other terror groups.

The three leaders, joined on a call by Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo, issued a joint statement emphasizing that the security of Israeli civilians and soldiers remains their top priority without compromise.

“The IDF will continue to act decisively to thwart threats to our soldiers and civilians, destroy terror infrastructure, and continue maintaining the security zone in southern Lebanon,” the statement said.

The declaration comes amid ongoing tensions along the Israel-Lebanon border, where Israeli forces have conducted repeated operations to push Hezbollah away from the frontier and degrade its military capabilities following months of cross-border attacks.

Israeli officials have repeatedly stressed that operations in the area will persist until the border area is secured and residents of northern Israel can return safely to their homes.
