JERUSALEM (VINnews)-The Israel Defense Forces struck a cell of armed terrorists who posed an immediate threat to soldiers operating in the Security Zone in southern Lebanon, the military said Tuesday.

A short while ago, IDF forces identified the terrorists operating in close proximity to troops in the Ali al-Taher Ridge area, according to the IDF statement. The soldiers then carried out a strike north of the Security Zone to neutralize the threat.

“The IDF will continue to operate to remove immediate threats and will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to harm Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers,” the military said.

The incident comes amid ongoing Israeli operations in southern Lebanon aimed at preventing Hezbollah attacks following the ceasefire that ended the intense fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group. Hezbollah has continued sporadic attempts to infiltrate or launch attacks toward Israeli forces and communities.
