Air Quality Advisory in Effect Today Due to Elevated Ozone Levels
By Y.M. Lowy
An Air Quality Health Advisory has been issued for today due to elevated ozone levels and will remain in effect until 11:00 p.m.
Health officials are advising people with asthma or other respiratory conditions, as well as those with heart disease, to limit strenuous outdoor activity. Children and older adults are also encouraged to take extra precautions while the advisory is in effect.
High ozone levels can cause shortness of breath, coughing, throat irritation, and chest discomfort, particularly for those who are more sensitive to air pollution. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should consider contacting their healthcare provider.
Conditions are expected to improve later tonight as ozone levels naturally decrease after sunset.
