U.S. EMBASSY: Israel Signs Land Agreement for Permanent U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem
Israel and the United States signed an agreement Wednesday allocating land in Jerusalem’s Allenby Compound for the construction of the permanent U.S. Embassy, advancing plans to replace the current temporary facility.
At the signing ceremony, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said the agreement marks another milestone in the U.S.-Israel alliance, calling Israel America’s most important strategic asset in the Middle East and saying a strong Israel strengthens the United States. He praised Donald Trump for his decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and relocate the embassy, describing it as a historic correction.
U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee thanked President Trump for fulfilling his pledge to move the embassy despite international opposition, saying the new permanent embassy will physically cement U.S. recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and serve as a lasting symbol of the two countries’ close relationship.
