VIOLENT ATTACK: Yeshiva Bochurim Allegedly Assaulted In Rechasim, Fear Reporting To Police Over Arrest Concerns
A violent incident reportedly took place Motzaei Shabbos in Rechasim, where a group of at-risk youths allegedly attacked bochurim outside a yeshiva, throwing rocks and heavy objects before brutally beating several students.
According to testimony aired by Israeli media, at least one bochur was seriously beaten by multiple attackers and suffered significant injuries. Fellow students claimed some of the attackers were carrying knives.
One bochur described the frightening scene:
“After Shabbos ended, there was a fight involving at-risk youths outside our yeshiva. They started throwing rocks toward the yeshiva. One bochur was nearly struck in the head by a large stone. When they saw there was no police, they grabbed one bochur, threw him to the ground, and beat him mercilessly. Six of them attacked him until he was covered in blood. He is now lying in the dormitory with a swollen eye and injuries all over his body.”
According to the report, several injured bochurim have refused to contact police or seek medical treatment because they fear they could be arrested due to their military draft status.
Another student said:
“We’re afraid to call the police because everyone in the yeshiva is considered absent from military service. We feel exposed to danger and have no protection.”
Israeli media also reported that a young Chareidi man was assaulted Saturday night in nearby Kfar Chassidim, suffering facial injuries. He likewise reportedly did not contact police out of concern that he could be arrested because of his draft status.
