EAST JERUSALEM SCARE: 20 Women Found Unconscious At Beauty Salon In Suspected Carbon Monoxide Incident

Jul 8, 2026·1 min read

A major emergency response was launched in East Jerusalem on Wednesday after 20 women were found unconscious inside a beauty salon in the city, in what authorities suspect may have been a carbon monoxide poisoning incident.

Magen David Adom and Fire and Rescue teams were dispatched to the salon after receiving reports of multiple unconscious women at the scene. According to preliminary information, the incident took place on Sheikh Anbar Street, and some of the victims apparently lost consciousness after inhaling a toxic substance. Emergency officials said there was suspicion the incident involved carbon monoxide poisoning.

As crews rushed to the scene, nearby ambulances and first responders were instructed to monitor radio communications, while hospitals were told to clear space and prepare for incoming casualties. Firefighters said all 16 women were evacuated from the salon.

“At this stage, the initial assessment is that poisoning is suspected, but the circumstances of the incident are still being examined,” the Fire and Rescue Service said.
