Huckabee: Israel Warned U.S. Of Iranian Plot To Assassinate Trump [VIDEO]
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee confirmed that Israel recently shared intelligence with the United States regarding an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate President Donald Trump.
“This week, Israeli intelligence tipped off our side, the president and our officials, that there was a very specific plot that was designed to take out President Trump,” Huckabee said during an interview with Fox News.
Huckabee declined to comment on reports that the intelligence warning prompted Trump to leave Turkey aboard an older Air Force One instead of the newer aircraft recently gifted by Qatar.
“I can only speak to what’s in the public reports — that is that there was a plot, Israeli intelligence picked it up and shared it with the US. That’s public knowledge, that’s all I can really add to that,” he said.
The confirmation comes after The Wall Street Journal reported that some U.S. officials questioned the credibility of the alleged threat and believed Israel shared the intelligence in hopes of encouraging Washington to resume a full-scale military campaign against Iran.
President Trump, however, denied that Israel had uncovered any new information.
“No, no. Israel came up with nothing. No, no,” Trump told the New York Post in a phone interview Friday. “I’ve been number one [on Iran’s kill list] for a long time, and it’s the way life is.”
