🔴 MAJOR ESCALATION: IRANIAN STRIKE KILLS U.S. TROOPS IN JORDAN Two American service members were killed, another remains missing and several were wounded after Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The attack significantly ups the ante in the rapidly expanding conflict: ▪️ Iran has now directly killed American troops ▪️ Jordan — a key U.S. ally bordering Israel — is increasingly becoming an active battlefield ▪️ Washington is under intense pressure to retaliate forcefully ▪️ Iran is expanding its attacks across the region, including against U.S. facilities and allies in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain The United States has already launched fresh strikes against Iranian military targets in response. Both sides may still be trying to avoid an all-out regional war, but each new round of retaliation makes miscalculation and uncontrolled escalation increasingly likely. -- 🗞️ JOIN THE TORONTO SCOOP, TORONTO'S FASTEST GROWING WHATSAPP GROUP & STATUS: https://wa.link/9mlx3u

🔴 U.S. ISSUES RARE WORLDWIDE TRAVEL CAUTION AS MIDDLE EAST TENSIONS ESCALATE The U.S. State Department has issued a Worldwide Caution advising Americans around the globe—and especially those in the Middle East—to exercise increased caution following the latest escalation in the conflict with Iran. The advisory warns of: • Potential attacks against U.S. interests and citizens • Flight cancellations and airspace closures • Rapidly changing security conditions across the region The alert comes just hours after an Iranian missile and drone attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan killed two American service members, prompting fresh U.S. strikes on Iranian targets. Americans traveling overseas are being urged to closely monitor local developments and follow instructions from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate. -- 🗞️ JOIN THE TORONTO SCOOP, TORONTO'S FASTEST GROWING WHATSAPP GROUP & STATUS: https://wa.link/9mlx3u

🕰️ Permanent Daylight Saving Time Bill Raises Concerns Among Orthodox Jewish Groups A bill passed by the U.S. House of Representatives that would make Daylight Saving Time permanent is drawing concern from major Orthodox Jewish organizations. Groups including Agudath Israel of America, the Orthodox Union, and the Coalition for Jewish Values warn that permanently moving the clocks forward would push winter sunrises to much later in the morning, making it significantly more difficult for many observant Jews to daven Shacharis at the proper halachic times before work or school. They also note that children would be traveling to school in darkness for much of the winter. The bill has passed the House and now heads to the Senate, where its future remains uncertain. It would not affect Canada directly, although it could reignite discussions about daylight saving time on this side of the border as well. -- 🗞️ JOIN THE TORONTO SCOOP, TORONTO'S FASTEST GROWING WHATSAPP GROUP & STATUS: https://wa.link/9mlx3u

🇨🇦 Could Ontario Be Next? The U.S. House has passed a bill to make Daylight Saving Time permanent. If it ultimately becomes law, the change could have implications for Ontario as well. In 2020, Ontario passed legislation allowing the province to adopt permanent Daylight Saving Time, but only if both New York State and Quebec make a similar move. The law has not yet been brought into force. If the U.S. ultimately adopts permanent DST and New York follows suit, pressure could grow on both Ontario and Quebec to do the same in order to keep clocks synchronized across the region. For many in the Orthodox Jewish community, the issue is significant, as permanent DST would push winter sunrises much later, making Shacharis before work or school considerably more challenging.

🇨🇦 POILIEVRE APPOINTS "REFERENDUM LEAD" AS ALBERTA SEPARATION VOTE APPROACHES Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has appointed Alberta MP Dane Lloyd as the party's "Referendum Lead for Alberta" ahead of the province's October referendum on separation. In a letter to Lloyd, Poilievre said the Conservatives will campaign to keep Canada united by listening to Albertans' concerns rather than dismissing them. He argued that years of federal policies targeting Alberta's energy sector and limiting pipeline development have left many Albertans feeling disrespected and alienated. "We can't pretend that Albertans don't have legitimate concerns and grievances," Poilievre wrote, adding that the answer is "not for Albertans to pull away from Canadians, but for Canadians to lock arms with Albertans." The appointment signals that the Conservatives are preparing to make opposition to Alberta separation a major focus in the months leading up to the October vote, while also pushing for policies they say would strengthen Alberta's economy within a united Canada. -- 🗞️ JOIN THE TORONTO SCOOP, TORONTO'S FASTEST GROWING WHATSAPP GROUP & STATUS: https://wa.link/9mlx3u

🇨🇦 The Gordie Howe Bridge: Why the Confusion? The criticism of the Carney government isn't just about the bridge deal itself—it's about the messaging. For days, Prime Minister Mark Carney and his ministers repeatedly emphasized that Canada would not share toll revenue with the U.S. and that the original agreement remained unchanged. Yet President Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick were publicly celebrating that they had secured major concessions for the United States, boasting that the U.S. had gone from receiving no revenue to sharing in the bridge's profits. Only later did Carney acknowledge that after Canada recovers its investment and operating costs, net toll revenues will indeed be shared with the U.S. for 15 years. Those statements aren't necessarily contradictory—but they certainly created confusion. Canadians were initially left with the impression that there would be no revenue sharing at all, when the reality is more nuanced. Adding to the controversy, the full agreement has still not been released, making it impossible for Canadians to independently assess exactly what concessions were made on revenue sharing, toll governance, and other provisions. Whether the final deal is good or bad is open to debate. But on an issue involving a bridge that Canada paid billions to build, Canadians shouldn't have to piece together the details from comments made by Donald Trump, Howard Lutnick and Reuters reporting. The government should simply release the agreement and let the public judge it for themselves. -- 🗞️ JOIN THE TORONTO SCOOP, TORONTO'S FASTEST GROWING WHATSAPP GROUP & STATUS: https://wa.link/9mlx3u

One of the most remarkable teachings about the power of mourning the Beis HaMikdash appears in Tanna Devei Eliyahu Rabbah (ch. 20, s.v. "פעם אחת הייתי עובר ממקום למקום"). The Midrash teaches: «"ולא גלגל הקב"ה והביא פרס ומדי לעולם אלא בשכרו של כורש שהיה בוכה ומתאנח בשעה שהחריבו העכו"ם את בית המקדש."» "Hashem brought the kingdoms of Persia and Media to world prominence only in the merit of Koresh, who cried and lamented when the nations destroyed the Beis HaMikdash." The Chofetz Chaim is quoted as calculating that Koresh was only about seven years old at the time of the Churban. Even the heartfelt tears of a child over the loss of Hashem's House were precious enough to alter the course of world history. Many people correctly point out that today we have only the faintest comprehension of what was truly lost with the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash. While that is certainly true, it should not lead us to underestimate the power of whatever genuine sense of loss we are able to feel. If the tears of a young child who could not possibly have grasped the full significance of the Churban were powerful enough to change the course of history, then surely our sincere mourning during these days is precious in the eyes of Hashem as well.

Project Inspire & Olami Toronto Team Up for an Evening of ACTION! The greatest resource in kiruv isn't another program—it's our people. When Olami Toronto needed more mentors for its students, they turned to Project Inspire to help mobilize the frum community. Together with Olami Toronto, Project Inspire's Joey Weitz, and the BAYT community, nearly 100 professionals came together with one mission: to inspire more people to become mentors and change Jewish lives. The evening was about more than recruiting mentors—it was about activating a movement. Together, attendees identified hundreds of potential mentors, opening the door to countless new Jewish connections. Rabbi Shlomo Landau shared an inspiring message about the power of one relationship, followed by a mentor and mentee who spoke about how a single connection transformed both of their lives. Their stories reminded everyone that you don't need to be a rabbi or educator to make a lasting impact. This is what Project Inspire is all about—mobilizing the incredible strengths of the frum community and partnering with organizations like Olami Toronto to create meaningful, life-changing Jewish relationships. A special thank you to Dr. Stuart Hytman, President of the Project Inspire Toronto Board, for helping make this incredible evening possible.

IntegrityTO founder Daniel Tate has officially entered Toronto's municipal election, challenging Toronto Centre Councillor Chris Moise. Tate, whose organization has become well known for criticizing progressive policies at City Hall, will face Moise—the same councillor who previously accused him of holding "white supremacy" views during a heated exchange. An integrity commissioner later ruled that Moise violated the city's code of conduct by making the derogatory remarks, though no penalty was imposed. 🚨 BREAKING: Toronto man charged with terrorism offence Ahmad Hassan Hajahmad, 33, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with Participating in or Contributing to the Activities of a Terrorist Group. Toronto Police allege that during pro-Palestinian demonstrations near Bay Street and Front Street West on May 25 and September 7, 2024, Hajahmad used amplification devices to make public statements advocating hatred and violence against members of the Israeli and Jewish communities. Following a search warrant executed in March 2025, investigators say they seized multiple electronic devices and gathered evidence alleging that Hajahmad acted for the benefit of, and in association with, Hamas, a listed terrorist organization. The charge follows a joint investigation by the Toronto Police Service Hate Crime Unit and the RCMP's Integrated National Security Enforcement Team (INSET). Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw said the investigation demonstrates that criminal offences committed at demonstrations will continue to be pursued long after the events themselves, adding that the Service remains committed to holding offenders accountable. -- 🗞️ JOIN THE TORONTO SCOOP, TORONTO'S FASTEST GROWING WHATSAPP GROUP & STATUS: https://wa.link/9mlx3u
