At Beis Kenesses Shomrei Emunah in Baltimore, Rav Yaakov Hopfer shlit”a, Nasi of the Vaad HaRabbonim of Baltimore, spoke about the open nissim Klal Yisroel has witnessed over the past two years. “There have been many wars, and by natural calculations, thousands more should have been killed. Yet we have seen tremendous nissim, because Klal Yisroel has stood behind Torah. Torah is meigin u’matzil, and the support of Torah is what protects Klal Yisroel.” _

Historic Baltimore Rabbanim Mission to Eretz Yisroel Explores Aliyah, Chinuch, and Community Opportunities as Interest Continues to Grow Jerusalem, Israel - June 8, 2026 – (BJL Israel ) As growing numbers of orthodox families explore the possibility of building their futures in Eretz Yisroel, a distinguished delegation of Rabbanim from Baltimore embarked this past week on a four-day leadership mission to Eretz Yisroel organized by Naava Kodesh. The Baltimore delegation included Rabbis Daniel Rose, Duvi Rubin, and Binyamin Marwick. They were joined by Baltimore community baalei batim Yaakov Berkowitz and Dovid Paige. Leaving behind families, kehillos, and many daily responsibilities, the Rabbanim traveled to Eretz Yisroel to see firsthand and gain a better understanding of the realities, new opportunities, and solutions to successfully deal with the challenges facing families considering Aliyah and settling long-term in Eretz Yisroel. The visit reflects a growing trend in orthodox communities in North America of families exploring the possibility of relocating to Eretz Yisroel. The visit offered the Rabbanim a firsthand, close-up look at the many Anglo-friendly mosdos, communities, support systems, and practical resources available to those considering the move. The mission began in Yerushalayim, where the Rabbanim met with Harav Yitzchok Berkowitz, Shlit"a, and Harav Asher Weiss Shlit"a to discuss the various components that go into moving to Eretz Yisroel and how to best prepare a family for a successful move both beruchniyus uvegashmiyus. New Missionary Tactic? Handwritten Letters Sent Directly to Baltimore Community Members Baltimore, MD - June 9, 2026 - BJL just received this notice from a community member: "I wanted to add to the warnings posted about the missionaries targeting our community. We just received a curious handwritten letter addressed to us by name. It's so rare to get handwritten mail these days. It was a handwritten letter from a ".... Witness" and included one of their pamphlets. While we can choose to keep our doors shut to solicitors, these letters bypass that boundary to get directly into our homes. The Tactic: They use highly convincing, handwritten envelopes addressed to you by name that seem to be a personal letter until you open it and begin reading. _

It is a Yeshiva filled with people who are deeply, personally, and completely invested in every child. That is what this year’s campaign video is about. It is not just a video about a school. The Baltimore Bagel Store That Changed a Life by: Rabbi Shraga Freedman Cincinnati, OH - June 11, 2026 – (BJL) When Rabbi Chaim Tropp, a menahel in Cincinnati, heard that the city's first Rita's Italian Ice had opened, he decided to visit with his family. As they entered the store, Rabbi Tropp and his family met the owner, an African American woman in her forties who greeted them warmly and professionally. Wanting to verify that the store was indeed kosher certified, they respectfully asked to see the certification. "It's right over here," she said proudly. "We're very happy to be certified. We very much want to accommodate the Jewish community." Curious about her enthusiasm, Rabbi Tropp asked what made the certification so meaningful to her. Her answer surprised them. JES’s Mental Wellness Mini Grants in Action Baltimore, MD - June 16, 2026 – (BJL) Over the past year, Mental Wellness Mini Grants from Jewish Educational Services (JES) have provided meaningful support to organizations working to strengthen the emotional wellbeing of children, parents, and families in our community. At a time when young people are facing increasing stress, anxiety, and social pressures, investing in mental wellness is more critical than ever to ensure they have the tools and support they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom. JES plays a vital role in championing this work, between supporting school counselors, hosting the Mental Wellness Summit, and fostering a culture in which mental health is prioritized. By offering targeted funding for innovation in school settings, these grants bring mental wellness to the forefront. They empower educators and community leaders to implement creative, responsive approaches that meet the evolving needs of students and families, while also reducing stigma and building stronger, more resilient communities. This past year’s grantees both worked hard to equip students and families with practical tools to manage anxiety and build resilience. 5:08 PMWatch: The Final Moment of TA's Hadran Aloch: The Siyum and Concert! Hadran Aloch is more than a campaign. Yes, over the past few weeks, parents, ambassadors, staff, grandparents, alumni, and friends came together with extraordinary dedication on behalf of TA. But at the heart of Hadran Aloch is something even deeper: the Torah learning of our talmidim. Throughout the year, and especially over the last several weeks, TA talmidim set goals, learned, reviewed, pushed themselves, and grew. Their Hadran Aloch was not measured in dollars raised, but in Torah learned, chazarah completed, and the pride of genuine accomplishment. On Monday, June 15th, that achievement came together in a beautiful culmination of siyumim, song, and Simchas HaTorah. It was the final moment of this year’s Hadran Aloch — and it captured what this campaign was always about. Enjoy the recap video linked above and share in the nachas! Mazel tov to our talmidim, their rebbeim and teachers, and the entire TA family. May we continue to celebrate many more moments of Torah, growth, and nachas together. Warmly, Rabbi Yaacov Cohen Executive Vice President _

DON'T LET 70% STAY HOME: Why Your Vote for Dalya Attar is Critical [Opinion] by: Rabbi Dovid Fink Baltimore, MD - June 17, 2026 – (BJL) Early voting ends Thursday June 17th. You may still vote in person on Tuesday, June 23rd. Zohran Mamdani was elected Mayor of New York with nearly 70% of the voters staying home. We cannot allow that to happen here. Make no mistake about it, Dalya Attar's opponent has some of the same vile, ideas of hatred that Mamdani has. The difference is we have a candidate on our side who has represented the ENTIRE 41st district over the last number of years, securing much needed funds for the Jewish Community, the African American community, the impoverished and disadvantaged community. Simply put, Dalya Attar has done her job, fighting for everyone in our district. Her opponent, who in the past has thanked Dalya for securing funds for his constituency, is not about representing the district. Rather, he is another opportunist whose goal is power. A Neis!: Eruv Saves Lives of Soldiers at IDF Outpost Tel Aviv, Israel -June 19, 2026 – (Arutz-7) Approximately six weeks ago, Elyashiv, a soldier serving in the IDF Military Rabbinate, installed an eruv at a military outpost near the Lebanese border as part of his duties. Days later, a Hezbollah explosive FPV drone heading toward the area became entangled in the eruv wire and was unable to continue its flight. The drone detonated on the eruv instead of reaching the ground, and no soldiers were injured. Fellow soldiers have described the incident as a "miracle," believing the eruv may have prevented the drone from striking the outpost. Image generated by AI

The Magic of Chai Event: Honoring Community, Tradition, and Care Baltimore, MD – June 17, 2026 – (BJL) Community members, healthcare leaders, and dedicated supporters recently gathered for an evening that beautifully reflected the strength and unity of our local Orthodox community. Hosted by Rachel and David Warschawski, the “Magic of Chai” event brought together leaders from Sinai Hospital and Levindale alongside physicians and community members for an intimate and meaningful conversation. Building on the momentum of the recent Magic of Life Gala, the evening created a space where relationships were deepened, and important conversations could unfold in a more personal setting. We were also honored by the presence of newly elected President and CEO, Jennifer Nickoles, whose attendance underscored the importance of this growing partnership. Emcee Yanky Schorr opened the evening by capturing its essence: a shared commitment to supporting life at every stage in a way that honors the values, sensitivities, and traditions of Baltimore’s Orthodox community.
