Returning to Jewish hands: The city of Vinnytsia in Ukraine is planning to fully restore the historic shul which was long used as a sports facility. Despite the Soviets turning it into a sports place, which it remained under very recently, the building retains the architectural features of a shul. • The city issued a tender describing the red brick building erected in 1903 as “an architectural monument of local importance.” It will allocate more than 46 million hryvnias, or around $1 million for the project. Work will include restoring the facades, strengthening the structure, repairing the roof and restoring the wooden gallery and stairs. • Vinnytsia, near Berdichev, had a prewar Jewish population of 34,000, but half fled into the interior of the Soviet Union when Germany invaded and the other half was murdered in a mass shooting by the Nazis. Located right in the center of the Cossacks, it suffered repeated pogroms throughout the past 400 years.

Does it end in an alef as the Gemara mostly spells it or with a hei as the Minchas Yitzchak, a former gaavad, rules? • Ultimately, Rav Avraham Yitzchak Ullman, Rav of Givat Shaul and a member of the Badatz, wrote a detailed teshuvah analyzing the issue, which has practical ramifications for gittin and kiddushin. After reviewing all the relevant statements of Chazal on both sides, he ruled that the city's name should be written טבריה with a hei.

This is despite spending $40 billion on public schools in 2024, or $36,293 per pupil, double the national average. • Meanwhile, six months into office, Mamdani has yet to release his education agenda. Education advocates say they have never seen a mayor with so little interest in schools.

Trump Triumphal Arch recieves initial approval but requires revisions — • President Trump's 250-foot proposed Triumphal Arch would require structural revisions to earn final approval, the National Planning Commission said Thursday. • The proposed Memorial Circle monument has a 166-foot mezzanine and 24-foot observation level, with a 60-foot statue of Lady Liberty on top. This would violate the 1910 Heights of Buildings Act, which seeks to preserve the Washington, D.C. skyline by limiting buildings to 130 feet. • Federal officials are seeking an aggressive work schedule that would require 20 hours a day of construction over two years.
2:03 AMGround has officially been broken on 2 World Trade Center, nearly 25 years after 9/11. The 1,226-foot, 55-story skyscraper will serve as American Express' new global headquarters and is slated for completion in 2031. • It will be the final building constructed at the former Ground Zero site.
