The Sullivan County Dive & Rescue Team is mourning the passing of Chuck Kinney, former Chief of the Kauneonga Lake Fire Department and Battalion Coordinator for the Sullivan County Bureau of Fire. Kinney was remembered as a dedicated leader, mentor, and friend whose decades of service and leadership helped shape emergency services throughout Sullivan County, including playing a key role in building the Sullivan County Dive & Rescue Team into the respected organization it is today. He is being honored for his lasting legacy of professionalism, selflessness, and commitment to serving the community.

BREAKING IN MONTICELLO: One person was pronounced dead after becoming trapped in a house fire at 38 Terrace Drive on Tuesday. Emergency personnel responded to the scene, but despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. MONTICELLO: Catskills Shomrim and the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office are investigating after a suspect entered multiple vehicles at the Ichud Bungalow Colony and stole valuable items. The suspect fled the scene before Shomrim volunteers and Sheriff's deputies arrived. The investigation remains ongoing.

UPDATE: MONTICELLO: Thanks to the swift response and coordinated efforts of Catskills Shomrim volunteers and the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, the suspect who fled after entering multiple vehicles at the Ichud Bungalow Colony and stealing valuable items has been arrested. PHOTOS: An injured bald eagle was rescued Tuesday morning after it was apparently struck by a vehicle while feeding on a deer carcass along Route 17 near Exit 105 in Sullivan County. Sheriff's deputies, Catskill Animal Rescue, and DEC officials safely captured the bird, which was taken to a wildlife rehabilitation center for treatment before its eventual release back into the wild.

FALLSBURG: A cleaning employee working for the management company of a residential development was arrested after stealing residents' packages on multiple occasions. Surveillance footage captured the repeated thefts, allowing detectives from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office to identify and arrest the suspect. Deputies also recovered numerous stolen items, including several expensive packages.

LOCH SHELDRAKE: Sullivan County Sheriff's detectives have recovered stolen tefillin and other property taken during two vehicle break-ins that occurred on July 29 at the Town & Country housing development in Loch Sheldrake and the Green Acres bungalow colony in Liberty. Investigators linked both thefts to a stolen white BMW that had fled from Liberty Police during a pursuit earlier that morning. After examining the abandoned vehicle, detectives recovered tefillin and other stolen items, which were returned to their grateful owners this week.
