AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT DIVERTED AFTER PASSENGER BECOMES VIOLENT A 67-year-old first-class passenger on American Airlines flight AA618 from Dallas (DFW) to Newark (EWR) reportedly became violent, attacking passengers and crew and making racist and homophobic remarks. Passengers and crew restrained him with duct tape and zip ties after he allegedly choked and struck another passenger and bit someone trying to restrain him. The Boeing 737-800 diverted to Baltimore (BWI), where police took the man into custody. He was reportedly charged with second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

✈️ FRONTIER AIRLINES LEAVING JFK: Frontier will operate its final flight from New York JFK on October 5, ending its JFK service after just two years. The airline says high operating costs and market demand influenced the decision. Frontier will now focus its New York operations on LaGuardia (LGA) and Newark (EWR). The final JFK flight will operate to Atlanta (ATL).

QANTAS FLIGHT DIVERTS AFTER ENGINE FLAMES: Qantas flight QF122 from Queenstown to Sydney was diverted to Christchurch after flames were reportedly seen coming from an engine shortly after takeoff. The Boeing 737-800, carrying around 160 passengers, landed safely in Christchurch with emergency crews standing by. The engine issue was later confirmed to have been caused by a bird strike. No injuries were reported.

TICKETS NOW LIVE — ISRAIR TO NEW YORK Israir has officially opened ticket sales for its new Tel Aviv–New York route. ✈️ US AIR FORCE EXPANDS GUAM BASE The U.S. Air Force is pouring 20 acres of new concrete at Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The project will create large open parking aprons for more aircraft instead of building additional shelters. The expansion is designed to support B-21 Raiders, B-52s, F-35s, P-8s and other aircraft across the Indo-Pacific. The upgrades are part of a broader effort to increase the base’s operational capacity and strengthen Guam’s strategic role.

DELTA IS BACK AT TLV After more than 6 months, Delta has officially returned to Israel. Footage from this morning’s first Delta flight landing at Ben Gurion Airport. F-16 WARNS PLANE AFTER ENTERING RESTRICTED AIRSPACE A Cessna 210, N2160S, entered restricted airspace over New Jersey on September 7, with the TFR in place while President Trump was at Bedminster. The aircraft was intercepted by an F-16, which warned the pilot to leave the restricted airspace. The pilot complied, and N2160S safely left the area.

TRUMP THREATENS BOMBADIER President Donald Trump says Bombardier could lose access to the U.S. market unless it builds aircraft in the United States. The Canadian manufacturer makes some of the world’s most expensive business jets, including the Global 8000, which starts at about $78 million. The Global 8000 can fly up to 8,000 nautical miles and reach Mach 0.95.

LA COMPAGNIE ADDS DÜSSELDORF La Compagnie will launch nonstop Newark–Düsseldorf service in Spring 2027. The all-business-class airline will operate the route 5x weekly with its new Airbus A321LR. TURKISH AIRLINES A340 DESTROYED BY FIRE A preserved Turkish Airlines Airbus A340-300 was destroyed by fire at a museum in Çayırova, Turkey. The aircraft, TC-JDL, served Turkish Airlines for nearly 21 years before retiring in 2015. The blaze is believed to have started in the cabin and may have been electrical in nature. The rear fuselage collapsed during the fire, but no injuries were reported.

NEW DETAILS: Amazon Cargo Plane Crash in Miami The Amazon cargo plane overran the runway by roughly 1,300 feet, striking airport equipment, a cleaning van carrying seven people, and a Toyota before tearing through multiple perimeter fences. Five of the seven people inside the cleaning van were killed. The pilot and copilot survived and were seen climbing out of the aircraft. The plane continued into the grass before hitting another fence near an area where Tesla robotaxis were stationed.

ISRAIR EYES NORTH AMERICA EXPANSION Israir owner Rami Levy says the airline’s new New York service is only the beginning of its long-haul expansion. The airline plans to add more North American destinations as it acquires additional wide-body aircraft. Levy specifically mentioned Miami, saying the aircraft can reach the destination. ISRAIR SELLS $8 MILLION IN NEW YORK FLIGHTS Israir has recorded around $8 million in bookings within hours of opening sales for its new Tel Aviv–New York route. Sales are now open through March 2027, with strong demand coming even before tickets were released for the major Pesach and summer periods. The airline has now rolled out its winter schedule, with 6 weekly flights in each direction: TLV–JFK: 12:30 AM, Sunday–Friday JFK–TLV: 2:30 PM, Sunday–Thursday + 12:30 AM Motzei Shabbos Hopefully, this means that at least on this route, Israir will not be operating flights over Shabbos.

SWISS A340 COULD BECOME MUSEUM EXHIBIT SWISS and the Swiss Museum of Transport are planning to preserve the airline’s last Airbus A340-300. The four-engine aircraft could be moved from Zurich to Lucerne after retirement. The project still depends on logistical, regulatory and financial approvals. If everything is finalized, the iconic aircraft could go on public display as early as 2028.

AEROMEXICO EXPANDS EUROPE NETWORK Aeromexico is launching two new nonstop routes to Europe in spring 2027. Mexico City–Milan will begin March 28 with 4 weekly flights. Guadalajara–Paris will launch April 13 with 3 weekly flights. Milan will become Aeromexico’s second destination in Italy, while Paris will be served nonstop from three Mexican cities.

RYANAIR FLIGHT DECLARES EMERGENCY AFTER BIRD STRIKE Ryanair flight FR5883, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 from Norwich to Malta, declared an emergency shortly after takeoff. The crew reportedly encountered a bird strike and halted the climb at 7,000 feet. The aircraft began circling and squawked 7700 before diverting toward East Midlands Airport. The flight was operated by Malta Air-registered 9H-VUV.

BREAKING: MAJOR UK FLIGHT DISRUPTION A technical failure in the UK’s air traffic control flight-processing system is causing major delays and cancellations across Britain today. Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester, Luton, Birmingham, Edinburgh and other airports are affected. Nearly 300 flights have been cancelled, with hundreds more delayed. NATS says engineers have identified the problem and are working to restore normal operations, but recovery is expected to take time and knock-on delays could continue into Wednesday.

A Piper PA-34 carrying a Florida family of four crashed near Andros Island after departing Great Harbour Cay (MYBG) for Opa-locka, Florida (OPF). The U.S. Coast Guard joined the search after contact was lost about 13 miles west of Andros Island. All four people on board were later found deceased

U.S. TREASURY TARGETS IRAN’S AVIATION SECTOR The U.S. Treasury has imposed sweeping new sanctions targeting Iran’s aviation sector, including 27 Iranian airlines and businesses, as well as foreign companies accused of providing aircraft, cargo and technical services. The measures also target firms in Turkey, the UAE and other countries supporting Iranian airlines. Washington warned that foreign companies doing business with Iran’s airlines risk being cut off from the U.S. financial system.

TSA PreCheck has launched Gateside, allowing members to enter the secure airport terminal even when they’re not flying. The free program is currently available at 13 U.S. airports, including DFW, LAX, LAS, SAN and SLC. Star Alliance to Open Branded Lounge at Seoul Incheon Star Alliance will open a new branded lounge at Seoul Incheon Airport (ICN) Terminal 1 in December 2026. The lounge will take over the existing Asiana Airlines Business Lounge West following Asiana’s departure from Star Alliance. It will serve eligible passengers from 14 Star Alliance airlines flying to 29 destinations from ICN. One of the World’s Last DC-8s Suffers Major Runway Excursion Trans Air Cargo Service’s Douglas DC-8-70, 9S-AJO, veered off the runway during takeoff at Kinshasa International Airport in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The aircraft suffered significant damage, including a collapsed nose landing gear. If declared a hull loss, only one operational DC-8-70 freighter may remain worldwide. Investigators are examining a possible hydraulic malfunction.

ELAL’s evening flight LY317 to London Heathrow was canceled due to the issue with the British air traffic control system. As a result, the return flight LY318 did not operate.

WIZZ AIR DELAYS AT TLV TODAY Two separate incidents involving Wizz Air flights from Ben Gurion today: • A Wizz Air flight to Warsaw was delayed after 3 intoxicated passengers refused to leave the aircraft. The captain requested security to remove them. • On a Wizz Air flight to Krakow, 2 draft dodgers allegedly attempting to reach Uman were detained just before departure.

Earlier claims from Ben Gurion Airport workers that the airport was struggling with operational issues are being pushed back by the Israel Airports Authority. The authority says Ben Gurion is operating normally despite the heavy YT-season traffic. It says staffing has been continuously increased to meet the expected surge in demand, just as it was during July and August. The IAA also rejected what it called misleading claims about the airport’s performance and praised employees and managers for working around the clock.

Air Cairo has signed a firm order for 15 new Airbus A320neo aircraft, marking the Egyptian airline’s first direct purchase of aircraft. The order supports its ambitious expansion plan as its fleet grows from 45 aircraft today toward 130 by 2034. The new A320neos will provide additional capacity and efficiency as Air Cairo expands its network across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

British Airways BA169, a Boeing 787-9 from London Heathrow (LHR) to Shanghai Pudong (PVG), China, turned back after about 2½ hours over Romania due to a technical issue. As it headed back to London, The NATS air-traffic-control system failure caused widespread disruption across UK airports, preventing the aircraft from returning to Heathrow. The Dreamliner was diverted to Cardiff (CWL), Wales, landing nearly five hours after departure. The flight was ultimately cancelled, leaving passengers stranded after hours in the air.

ATHENS AIRPORT EXPANSION TAKES A NEW TURN Athens International Airport (ATH) is scrapping its current expansion plan and launching a new one after passenger numbers came in stronger than expected. The original plan was to increase capacity to 40 million passengers a year, but the airport now wants to explore expansion beyond 40 million. The new project will expand the main terminal and Satellite Terminal C, with total investment expected to reach €950 million by 2030.

Two Delta flights experienced cabin fume/odor incidents within 48 hours. DL1035 (JAX–JFK) diverted to RDU on September 7 after fumes were detected onboard. The next day, DL1390 (LGA–ORD) declared an emergency after fumes were reported while approaching Chicago. Both aircraft landed safely, and passengers deplaned normally. The two incidents are not currently believed to be connected.

NEW DETAILS EMERGE IN MIAMI AMAZON AIR CRASH NTSB data shows the Amazon Prime Air Boeing 767-300F touched down at MIA at 158 knots before the crew applied brakes. At 120 knots, the crew increased thrust as if attempting a go-around, but the maneuver was then aborted. The aircraft slowed to 65 knots before running off the end of the runway, killing five people. The NTSB found no indication that thrust reversers or speed brakes were deployed. Investigators will interview both pilots as they continue determining what caused the crash.

UNITED FLIGHT DIVERTS TO LONDON UA273 (NCE–EWR), operated by a 28-year-old Boeing 767-300ER (N664UA), declared an emergency and squawked 7700 over the English Channel. The aircraft diverted to London Heathrow (LHR) and landed safely on Runway 27L. LHR operations were adjusted and the flight was given priority for landing. The cause of the emergency has not yet been confirmed.

TSA is considering allowing TSA PreCheck passengers to bring full water bottles through security at select U.S. airports equipped with advanced CT scanners. The 3.4 oz (100ml) liquids rule remains in effect nationwide for now, with any change expected to roll out gradually. New eGates and CT technology are already being tested at airports including CLT, LAX, DCA, EWR and LAS, but no initial water-bottle airports have been confirmed. The potential change would initially apply only to water—not other liquids such as shampoo or gels. The move could mark the beginning of the eventual phase-out of the 20-year-old 100ml liquids rule.

El Al flight LY5329 from TLV to Chisinau, Moldova, was forced to turn back to Ben Gurion following a technical issue. The aircraft remained over the Mediterranean for several circles, apparently burning off fuel before returning safely to TLV. The flight is packed with passengers heading to Uman for Rosh Hashanah.

With thousands of Israelis traveling, reservists carrying firearms are reminded to follow all airport procedures and declare their weapons as required. The ongoing Uman flights are adding further pressure, with additional peak days expected later this month.

🇺🇦🇷🇺🇳🇴 ZELENSKYY’S PLANE NEARLY HIT BY DRONE Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plane was reportedly nearly hit by a drone while taking off from Moldova for Oslo, Norway. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre revealed the incident to local media. Moldovan authorities had temporarily closed the country’s airspace after Russian drones entered Moldovan airspace. One drone crashed in Moldova, while another briefly entered Romanian airspace.

UNITED 9/11 FLYOVER CANCELED United has canceled a planned DEN flyover featuring a Boeing 777 escorted by four Colorado Air National Guard F-16s to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The flight was planned for 8:14 AM, with the flyby at United’s training center at 9:03 AM — the exact time UA175 struck the South Tower. The plan was dropped following coordination issues and concerns from local officials and residents. Despite the cancellation, United will unveil a new monument at its Denver Flight Training Center, crafted from steel recovered from Ground Zero, dedicated to the crews of UA175 and UA93.

SQUAWK 7700: FIVE EMERGENCIES IN ONE WEEK Five aircraft declared emergency squawk 7700 during the week of August 27, including a United 767 that lost cabin pressure over the Mediterranean and two Wizz Air A321neos that declared fuel emergencies after lightning disrupted Luton ATC. An Air Canada Cargo 767 also returned to DFW after an unusual climb to FL410, while a Eurowings 737 diverted to Paris after steam from a galley oven and a Jet2 737 made an unexplained diversion to CDG. All five aircraft landed safely, with no injuries reported.

Iași Airport (IAS) is currently handling one of the heaviest flows of Chasidim traveling to Uman.43 special charter flights are scheduled between Israel and Iași from September 8–16.18 flights are scheduled TLV→IAS, while 25 flights are scheduled IAS→TLV. 15 charter flights are scheduled from Iași to Tel Aviv on September 15 alone. Parking areas in front of Terminals T1 and T2 are being closed to the public and reserved for transportation serving the Israelis.
