The NYPD is seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect wanted in a citywide grand larceny hate crime pattern involving multiple mosques across NYC. The first incident occurred at a mosque at 1089 Coney Island Avenue in Flatbush, where a wallet and credit cards were stolen from an unattended jacket and later used for unauthorized purchases. Police say the suspect is linked to at least seven incidents citywide, including thefts totaling thousands of dollars. Mayor Zohran Mamdani and the NYC Health Department announced new measures aimed at strengthening the city’s response to Legionnaires’ disease following a deadly Upper East Side outbreak that has resulted in 94 cases and 11 deaths. A 17-year-old student is wanted by the NYPD after a gun was found inside his backpack at Sheepshead Bay High School on Avenue X Friday afternoon. Police say the firearm was discovered after the student went through a scanner while attending sports practice. The teen fled before officers arrived and remained at large as of Friday evening.
