BREAKING: Initial reports approved by Israeli military censor say that a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv has been diverted to Saudi Arabia due to a suspected hijacking.

HAPPENING NOW: Israeli fighter jets have been scrambled and are en route to the suspected hijacked aircraft. Over 180 Israeli passengers are on board the flight from Dubai-Tel Aviv. Flight FZ1073 is no longer appearing on FlightRadar24.

BREAKING: There is currently no communication with the pilot of Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Israeli PM Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz are holding an emergency security briefing.

UPDATE: An Israeli security official says the aircraft is expected to land in Saudi Arabia within the next few minutes, after which authorities hope to establish a clearer picture of what is going on.

BREAKING: There are some positive signs that this may not be a hijacking and rather be another sort of incident. The details remain unclear, but the flight has established contact with the Saudis appears to be preparing for a landing. The plane is being escorted by Israeli and Saudi fighter jets.

UPDATE: Pilot Fight Reportedly Behind FlyDubai Hijacking Scare Initial reports now indicate that the dramatic incident aboard FlyDubai Flight FZ1073 may have been triggered by a fight between the pilots inside the cockpit. The reported confrontation apparently led to the emergency aboard the Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight, which earlier transmitted emergency code 7700 and then 7500 — the international code indicating a hijacking — prompting Israeli fighter jets to be scrambled. The circumstances of the reported cockpit altercation, including why the hijacking code was transmitted, remain unclear. The report has not yet been officially confirmed. This is a developing story.

JUST IN: Following the reports, the IDF Chief of Staff held a situational assessment in recent minutes with the Commander of the Israeli Air Force, the Head of the Operations Directorate, the Head of Military Intelligence, and other senior commanders.

🚨 BREAKING UPDATE: Preliminary reports are increasingly pointing to a possible suicide attempt, and potentially an attempted suicide terror attack, aboard FlyDubai Flight FZ1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Israel’s Channel 14 reports that the preliminary suspicion is that one of the pilots attempted to deliberately crash the aircraft, allegedly sending it into a steep dive from around 30,000 feet to 15,000 feet at approximately Mach 1. The second pilot reportedly fought him and managed to regain control. Meanwhile, passengers are describing a violent struggle aboard the aircraft. One Israeli passenger told i24NEWS: “We heard screams on the plane. Then they opened the cockpit and saw blood, and someone had stabbed the pilot with a pocketknife.” She said Israeli passengers, together with crew members, managed to neutralize the alleged attacker. “There were moments of a terror attack in the middle of the flight for close to 15 minutes,” she said. “We prayed ‘Shema Yisrael.’ There were moments when we thought we weren’t going to make it out alive.” The aircraft ultimately made an emergency landing. The exact sequence of events, including who allegedly carried out the stabbing and whether the incident was terrorism-related, has not yet been officially confirmed. The investigation is ongoing.

😱🗞️ OUTRAGEOUS: Watch CNN’s Max Foster downplay hijacking a mere “incident” and just “an internal personnel incident between pilots,” (as if that internal incident would have stayed internal and not affected anyone else had the plane crashed) as if to say, “Nothing to see here, folks” and then sew doubts. Then, hours later, he uploaded a second report sowing seeds of doubt and conspiracy, questioning how the plane didn’t crash and how Israelis could possibly have gotten into a “locked cockpit,” when he could have easily reported what everyone already knew: the wounded pilot unlocked the cockpit door, allowing them to enter. He ends by cautioning viewers that this account is “according to Netanyahu,” emphasizing who the information is coming from so beware, vs. framing it as actual news that happened. And CNN wasn’t alone. The New York Times, Washington Post and other major outlets similarly framed early reports as a mere squabble or “altercation” between pilots and focused on the plane just being diverted, rather than describing it as a hijacking. The entire tone and framing makes the story ripe for conspiracy theorists to jump on this and claim it was a false-flag incident.
