Major terror attack avoided: FlyDubai pilot tries to hijack, crash plane with 180 Israelis on board: • A FlyDubai flight carrying roughly 180 passengers from Dubai to Tel Aviv was forced to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after a violent incident inside the cockpit. Israeli officials now assess that the incident may have been an attempted terror attack. • According to Israeli officials, one of the pilots stabbed the other during the flight and attempted to take control of the aircraft. Crew members, aided by Israeli passengers, managed to break into the cockpit and subdue the suspected attacker. Officials are investigating whether his intention was to deliberately crash the plane. • During the struggle, the aircraft suddenly plunged roughly 4,000 meters, nearly 14,000 feet, before control was regained. The plane transmitted both a general emergency code and a code indicating unlawful interference, prompting Israel to scramble fighter jets and hold an urgent security assessment as for a couple of minutes it was believed the plane had been hijacked with no contact. • The aircraft ultimately landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, with all passengers accounted for. An Israeli official said a “major disaster was narrowly avoided.”

60 million children to be auto-enrolled in Trump Accounts: • The Treasury Dept will automatically enroll tens of millions of children in the new Trump Accounts this week, replacing the previous structure that required parents or guardians to sign up. • The shift to automatic enrollment will ensure much broader access to the child investment accounts, creating them for more than 60 million additional children under age 18. • The shift to auto enrollment means that big contributions from wealthy donors to the program—like the $6.25 billion pledge from Michael Dell—would reach more households. • “Stakeholders have expressed that eligible donors prefer that their contributions reach all children, not just children whose parents have the awareness to opt in,” the rules say. • As of the end of July, the Treasury Department processed 5.6 million forms to open the accounts. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said 7 million children are signed up. Some 73 million children are eligible for the program. • The accounts come with a government contribution of $1,000 for children born from 2025 through 2028. But auto-enrollment won’t automatically trigger that contribution. Under last year’s tax law, which created Trump Accounts, taxpayers must specifically elect to get that $1,000, and Tuesday’s rules don’t change that. • Switching to auto-enrollment will let assets in those accounts start growing without families needing to do anything.
