Baltimore Police Seek ‘Armed and Dangerous’ Suspect in Deadly Double Shooting Baltimore Police are asking for the public’s help locating 24-year-old Dashawn Taylor, who is wanted in connection with a deadly double shooting. Police say Taylor is wanted for the June 23 shooting of 38-year-old Asia Williams in the 5200 block of York Road. Williams was killed, and a 27-year-old man was also injured. Authorities say Taylor should be considered armed and dangerous and warn the public not to approach him.

Maryland joins lawsuit against Amazon over alleged secret advertising scheme Maryland has joined with 21 other states and the FTC in a lawsuit against Amazon, claiming the company "secretly inflated prices in its online search advertising auctions." The lawsuit claims Amazon secretly hiked advertising prices for over 7 years, earning billions from “unwitting” advertisers. Amazon also allegedly hid the pricing from the public to avoid backlash, and gave false and misleading answers to advertisers who questioned the advertising pricing.

Torah Institute Third Graders Celebrate Haschalas Mishnayos Torah Institute’s third-grade boys celebrated an exciting milestone on Sunday with a special Haschalas Mishnayos program, marking the beginning of their journey into Torah Sheba’al Peh. Message to the Admin: Stop Parking in the Target Drive Up Pickup Hi, I’m not really sure where else to turn, but I was wondering if Baltimore Scoop could possibly post something to bring awareness to this. I regularly use Target’s Drive Up pickup, and very often I see cars parked in the designated pickup spots while the drivers are shopping inside. Sometimes so many of the spots are taken that customers who are actually there for Drive Up have to wait for someone to leave before they can pull in. Harbor redevelopment project could receive 95% tax break The Baltimore Development Corporation (BDC) announced yesterday it has awarded a massive tax break to MCB Real Estate, the developer for the Baltimore Harbor redevelopment project. The developer could see a tax break of up to 95% for 25 years. The redevelopment plan calls for replacing two aging Harborplace pavilions at Pratt and Light streets with new commercial, retail and high-rise apartment buildings. While demolition is slated to begin this fall, there has been no announcement yet if MCB has secured private financing for it's share of the project, estimated at around $600 million. On top of the tax breaks, the city is expected to spend an additional $400 million of public money for roadway, park and waterfront promenade improvements.

According to information shared with Baltimore Scoop, the group consisted of three individuals carrying a stack of different offensive shirts and allegedly interacting with shoppers in an effort to get reactions on camera. One of the shirts reportedly read, “I ❤️ racism.” A shopper who witnessed what was happening brought the matter to the attention of Target staff and went to the front of the store to file a complaint.

All lanes of I-695 re-opened after highway closure Maryland highway officials have now confirmed that all lanes are now open on I-695. The entire outer loop was closer earlier today between exit 11A and I-95 due to "police activity.” The incident may have been a case of road rage with a firearm, there were no injuries reported.

Baltimore drinking water reservoir down 20 feet, losing 6 inches a week Baltimore City's Department of Public Works announced water levels in the Prettyboy reservoir are now 20 feet below normal, following 3 years of below average rainfall. The reservoir is managed by Baltimore City, despite being located in the county, and supplies drinking water to 1.8 million people. Despite a fairly rainy summer, precipitation has been localized and has not sufficiently recharged the groundwater supply. If water levels in the reservoir continue to drop, Baltimore may begin to draw drinking water from the Susquehanna River, something the city has not done since 2002. A test was conducted in July for using the Susquehanna, and the city is preparing operations in case use of the river becomes necessary.

Maryland Paid Leave Program Moving Forward After Years of Delays Maryland is moving ahead with its long-delayed paid family and medical leave program. Beginning January 1, 2027, workers and employers will begin contributing to the program, with a total contribution rate of 0.9% of wages, generally split between employers and employees. Starting in January 2028, eligible workers will be able to receive up to 12 weeks of job-protected paid leave for qualifying family and medical needs, with benefits of up to $1,000 per week.

Southwest to open its first lounge at BWI Southwest Airlines has announced it plans on opening its first airport lounges, including at BWI. Man Accused of Threatening Councilman Yitzy Schleifer After Denying Zoning Request A Pikesville man is accused of threatening Baltimore City Councilman Isaac “Yitzy” Schleifer following a zoning denial involving a proposed methadone clinic on Park Heights Avenue. Schleifer opposed the request to place the methadone clinic on Park Heights. Months later, the written threats began, including alleged threats to attack him while he was walking on Shabbos. New direct MARC train to run between Baltimore and Silver Spring A new MARC direct train service has been announced that will connect Montgomery County communities on the Brunswick Line and Baltimore-Camden Station on the Camden Line. By eliminating transfers, the new one-seat ride will cut some travel times in half, and make taking the train more competitive with driving. Starting Sep. 28, travelers in Silver Spring, College Park, Laurel and more will have have the option to take a direct train to Baltimore-Camden Station in the morning, and a direct return trip in the evening. The new service will not require any additional funding, with the MTA simply adjusting schedules on the Brunswick and Camden lines.

New Scrip Program Introduced for our Community A new Scrip Program is being introduced in Baltimore to replace the longtime program previously operated through the Agudah of Baltimore. The new program, established through will allow community members to purchase certificates to give to Meshulachim while also helping support local mosdos. BREAKING: Maryland Supreme Court Puts Redistricting Question Back on November Ballot The Supreme Court of Maryland has ruled that a proposed congressional redistricting constitutional amendment can appear on the November ballot, reversing lower court rulings that had blocked the measure. The decision came just hours after the state’s highest court heard oral arguments over the proposed amendment.

Baltimore County kitten tests positive for rabies Earlier this week, a 4-month old kitten found along Paper Mill Rd in Jacksonville, Baltimore County, tested positive for rabies. Baltimore County Animal Services has identified at least one human exposure to the kitten. Local health officials are reminding the public to stay away from stray animals, and to make sure pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations.

AUDIT: Maryland failed to collect $800+ million in unpaid tolls A new audit from the Office of Legislative Audits has found that the Maryland Transportation Authority failed to collect over $818 million in unpaid tolls and penalties from out-of-state motorists. The audit found that Maryland could have entered into enforcement agreements with other states, hired a private collection agency or sought approval to refer the debt to Maryland’s Central Collection Unit - but failed to do so. The uncollected total spanned 5 years, from 2020 - 2025, with most outstanding debt over one year old. The audit comes at a time when the MTA is seeing rising construction and operating costs, and at a time when the state is estimating a structural budget gap of about $3 billion in the coming fiscal year.

Attempted Home Entry Ends in Arrest Baltimore Shomrim responded today to an incident involving an individual allegedly attempting to enter a residence while the homeowner was inside. Baltimore raccoon tests positive for rabies - only a short drive from the community The apparent surge of animals testing positive for rabies is hitting closer to home, with the latest confirmed case only a few miles away in Northwest Baltimore. Baltimore City Animal Control picked up a dead raccoon from a backyard on the 4300 block of Groveland Avenue, which tested positive for rabies yesterday. Health officials have identified one person who may have been bitten. This follows a kitten which tested positive for rabies in Baltimore County. Health officials are warning the public to contact the city health department if they have any contact with a raccoon. Pet owners are also urged to make sure their pets are up to date on their rabies vaccinations, and to immediately call a vet if any suspicious wounds appear on their pet.

Flight diverted to BWI as unruly passenger duct taped to his seat An American Airlines flight from Dallas to Newark was diverted to BWI after a disturbance on the flight. 67 year old Arthur Lundeen is facing charges of second-degree assault and disorderly conduct, after allegedly engaging in violent behavior on the flight, including attempting to bite passengers, in addition to using racist slurs. Video from the flight showed Lundeen duct taped to his seat, with the tape wrapping around his head and torso.
