🇮🇱🤖 IDF ENTERS THE AI ERA: Israel to Launch New Military Branch for AI, Drones and Battlefield Robots The IDF is preparing to launch an entirely new branch dedicated to artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, drones and military robotics, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir announced. “The battlefield is changing at a dizzying pace, and we are changing with it,” Zamir said, declaring that the IDF intends to become a global leader in unmanned warfare and military AI. Zamir said he finalized plans for the new “Unmanned Systems and Artificial Intelligence” branch last week, with its inauguration planned for Hanukkah in early December. The branch will oversee the development of robotic and autonomous capabilities across land, air and sea. Unmanned systems are expected to operate alongside human combat units as well as carry out independent missions, expanding the IDF’s operational capabilities while reducing risks to soldiers. The Navy is also expected to receive new autonomous capabilities operating both above and below the sea. According to Zamir, the shift toward AI, robotics and unmanned warfare represents a fundamental part of the IDF’s future battlefield strategy.
