A beautiful Shvi’i shel Pesach vort we heard last year from Joey Newcomb, in the name of “the Yid from Forshay”: The Gemara tells us: 📖 Sotah 2a קשה זיווגו של אדם כקריעת ים סוף “A person’s matchmaking is as difficult as the splitting of the Sea.” 📖 Pesachim 118a קשה פרנסתו של אדם כקריעת ים סוף “A person’s livelihood is as difficult as the splitting of the Sea.” But how are we to understand this? Is anything “difficult” for Hashem? The “Yid from Forshay” explained: When a Yid is in a tzarah—struggling for parnassah or a shidduch—he pours out his heart in tefillah, creating a deep and powerful connection with Hashem. And Hashem says: "If I bring him the yeshuah… I’m going to miss those tefillos."
