Jooish Groups WhatsApp wasn't built for news, it's for chatting. When communities use it for updates, things get messy: • It's intermingled with your personal chats • No way to browse before joining • Admins (and sometimes all members) can see your phone number • Bloats the storage on your device because images and videos are downloaded. Jooish Groups are different: • Privacy first. Join groups without sharing your phone number or email with admins or other members. • Explore freely. Browse public groups and read what's being shared before you decide to join. • Native news experience. Jooish News posts shared in groups open directly in the reader view. • Shareable messages. Every message can be shared as a link. Forward it anywhere.

You can now subscribe to notifications from organizations you follow. In their page, next to the Following button you’ll see a bell button. Press that to get notified.

Similar posts now get grouped together

Fixed an issue on Android where video thumbnails were not being shown in Group threads.

How updates work You might see updates posted here but don’t yet see it in your app. Here is how it works and how to get the latest updates: Lots of updates are pushed out directly to the app without going through the App Store or Google Play. When you start the app, it checks for updates. If an update is available it download it. The next time the app restarts, it uses the new version. This means that if you have the app running for a while, you won’t be using the latest version. You might see me posting about a feature but you won’t see it in your app. You can use this page to check if there are any updates available. If there is, it’ll ask you if you want to restart the app. https://jooish.app/settings/updates

You can now long press a Group to get these options.

We resigned the layout to clearly separate News and Groups. We also added a new Discover page which can be used to find new sites and groups.

The video player now supports Picture in Picture.

You can now hide the unread count for specifc groups. Use this if you only want to occasionally check in but don't want to be bothered with the total count.

You can now report Posts and Group messages. If you feel like something doesnt belong on Jooish News, please let us know asap by reporting it.
